Hi everyone!

Organising or categorising your workflow on the computer allows you to access the ideas or elements you use when making music more quickly, and even to finish things in a concentrated way in a much shorter time than usual. So, today I'd like to talk about some of my experiences to improve or enhance your workflow.

By the way, I am not in favour of creating content about ‘basic’ production training on this channel. Therefore, in the following videos, you will see a little more advanced and practical methods, as well as a lot of content on sound design. Although I use Live as an example of a DAW, you can adapt this approach to other environments.

1 - Simplifying Plugins and Samples

All producers know this fact, but somehow many samples, applications or plugins cannot be deleted even if they are not used :) For instance, according to the protocol you use, VST, AU, VST2, VST3, AAX (pro tools) may need to be eliminated and simplified according to your ease of use. In fact, it not only helps to increase the performance of your computer, but also simplifies your workspace and speeds up your focus on the result.

2 - Using a Template

Starting everything from scratch when preparing a brand new music project is like banning calculators in maths exams. I mean, unnecessary... (By the way, why are calculators still sold even though mobile phones have calculators? for some reason this came to my mind :D) anyway... With a template that you will prepare according to your own ease of use, everything will progress much faster and systematically. As an example, I would like to briefly show Beatcord production templates: For instance, it always starts with the same preset in EQs, 20-2000... Apart from that, when I press the M button, it allows me to mix in mono. These templates are also found in other producers in our organisation. Therefore, the work becomes more integrated with a synchronised habit. In addition, if you continuously develop your templates over time and eliminate their deficiencies regularly, a much more comfortable and efficient environment flow is provided when the template reaches its final form.

3 - Classification

Again, the categorisation of files according to your own ease of use is very important for accessibility. I usually prefer to categorise them by genres... Of course, if you want, you can also categorise them by BPM or key. You can also categorise your recordings, demos, and prototypes where you create your little music dolls.

Categorising the recordings you make, the presets you use for effects, even your virtual sound libraries, simplifies your work environment and speeds up your production flow.

4 - LES (Live Enhancement Suite)

Last but not least. Live Enhancement Suite!

In addition to the other stuff, this is a script written just for Live. So it's an incredibly useful plugin. Actually, I had set this plugin as a separate video topic, but for now I would like to talk a little bit about the part that only includes it because it is included in the topic. Unfortunately, in Live, you can access each plugin either by searching for it from the browser on the left or by entering the menus one by one. This can become boring and tiring over time. Here, thanks to this script produced to increase efficiency, you can access all plugins by right-clicking on any spot.

For instance, I have categorised all plugins into 4 main groups, but for the FX part, this time I wanted to make a classification based on Live's criteria rather than my own. In this way, I want to advance my habits in a parallel approach when searching for both stock plugins and 3rd party applications.

Yes, I wonder which of these methods you are already using or if you have different points to add, friends, you can specify in the comments section below ...
